Giggling Squid Windsor – A Taste of Thailand

Last week the family and I spent an evening at Giggling Squid in Windsor. Did you know, Giggling Squid has been around since 2002 and their first restaurant was a tiny, tiny fisherman’s cottage in Brighton! Since then they have opened several restaurants and are still opening, so keep an eye out for any opening near you.

Giggling Squid Windsor

Windsor CastleSo onto Windsor. The food as always was tasty. The ambience was modern with a twist of authenticity. The staff were friendly and helpful, but all I wanted to do was just eat!! Oh, not to forget the restaurant is a stone throw away from Windsor Castle, so a meal and a view, perfect!

When we arrived, we were given a lovely setting towards the back of the restaurant, it allowed us to make as much noise as we wanted.

We ordered a range of starters, including the Som Tam Papaya Salad, Yummy Duck Spring Rolls, Samui Zingy Prawns, Salt and Pepper Squid, Pak Choi and Chicken Satay. They all came out very quickly and creatively. The duck spring rolls, what can I say!! They were so tasty. I could have just had those all evening and I would have been satisfied. They seemed to skimp out on the Samui Zingy Prawns, there were only 4 tiny prawns on a plate, so weren’t really impressed there, but I guess you don’t need to have loads to savour the tastes, just delicious.

Main Course

Giggling Squid - Spring rolls and Thai Green CurryFor the mains we ordered a Chicken Green Curry, Beef Massaman Curry, a Prawn Pad Thai, Sunny Day Sea Bass and Jasmine Rice. The food took a while to come out, but when it did we just ate like there was no tomorrow, maybe because the aromas from the food smelt divine. if you like fish, I’d definitely recommend the Sunny Day Sea Bass, it just melted in my mouth.

We didn’t end up getting any dessert as we were there for a birthday, so had birthday cake. But I wish I did stay for desert now, it all tasted so lovely.

The Bill

The bill ended up being £140 for a table of 7 with alcohol, so was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been to a few Giggling Squid’s before and I’m sure I’ve paid more, maybe I didn’t use to pay attention to the bill. If you are out in Windsor, then definitely book yourself into Giggling Squid, it’s worth the visit.
